First Admiral Dato' GHANI joined the Royal Malaysian Navy in Dec 1975 and was commissioned in June 1978.
He was promoted to the present rank on 1 Oct 2007 and presently holding the appointment of
Commander Naval Region 3 at HQ Commander Naval Region 3, Royal Malaysian Navy Base, Langkawi Malaysia as from 28 August 2007.

Throughout his tour of duty, First Admiral Dato' GHANI had held various important appointments ashore as well as at sea.
His sea service includes tours as Diving Officer of hydrographic ship, Commanding Officer diving support ship and has commanded
Mine Countermeasure Vessel as well as a Squadron Commander of 26th MCMV Squadron.
His shore appointments include Diving Training Officer at RMN Diving School, Staff Diving Officer at HQ Naval Region 2,
Staff Diving Officer at HQ Fleet Operations Commander and Commanding Officer of Royal Malaysian Navy Diving and Minewafare Center.

First Admiral Dato' GHANI had attended Clearance Diving Officer course at HMAS PENGUIN (Australia), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (USA),
Deep Sea Diving and Salvage Course (USA) and Malaysian Armed Forces Defense College Kuala Lumpur.
First Admiral Dato' GHANI also holds a Master of Art in Defense Strategic Studies from University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

First Admiral Dato' GHANI is married to Puan El Liza and blessed with 5 children, two sons and three daughters.
First Admiral Dato' GHANI plays golf, jogging and cycling. He is presently is the
Chairman of Malaysia Armed Forces Archery Association as well as the Deputy President of National Archery Association Malaysia.
